TikTok Shop fees & commission in 2026: the complete seller breakdown

Ask TikTok what it costs to sell and you'll hear one number: the referral fee. Ask a seller who's been on the platform for a year and you'll get a different answer — usually somewhere between 30% and 45% of revenue once affiliate commissions, fulfillment, returns and ads are counted. This guide itemizes every fee TikTok Shop charges in 2026, by market, with the mechanics that catch sellers off guard. Rates below are re-verified monthly against Seller Academy; the dated record lives on our changelog.

1. The referral fee (the one everyone quotes)

The referral fee is TikTok's commission on every completed order. It's calculated on the customer payment plus any platform-funded discount, minus sales tax — not on what lands in your bank account. That last detail surprises people: when TikTok funds a "Deals For You" voucher, the subsidized amount is added back into your fee base.

EU (DE·FR·IT·ES·IE)9%Select electronics 7%4% for 60 days*

*Promotions are conditional and time-limited. The US promo requires your first sale within 60 days of completing onboarding. Always confirm eligibility in Seller Center, and never build permanent pricing around a temporary rate.

2. Payment processing: the US vs everyone else

In the US, payment processing is bundled into the 6% referral fee — there is no separate transaction or processing line item, which makes the US the simplest market to model. UK and EU sellers pay processing on top: roughly 2.9% of the customer payment plus a fixed £0.30 / €0.30 per order. On a £50 UK order that's £4.50 referral + £1.75 processing — a real platform take of 12.5% before anything else.

UK sellers who self-fulfill pay an additional £0.50 per order as a self-fulfillment service fee (in effect since July 2025). Small on a single order; material at volume.

3. Fulfillment: FBT and the death of the cheap product

Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) costs approximately $3.58 per unit for single-unit orders and $2.86 per unit on multi-unit orders in the small-parcel (0–4 lb) band, with storage free for the first 60 days. Since March 31, 2026, FBT (or TikTok-managed shipping options) is the default for US sellers — check your Seller Center for the fulfillment options available to your shop.

The fixed-dollar nature of FBT is what kills low-price products. $3.58 is 9% of a $40 sale, 14% of a $25 sale and 24% of a $15 sale. If your catalog lives under $20, run the per-order math in the calculator before listing, not after.

4. TikTok Shop commission: two things share one name

Sellers searching "TikTok Shop commission" are usually asking about one of two different costs. The first is TikTok's own commission — officially the referral fee (6% US, 9% UK/EU) covered above. The second is the creator affiliate commission that you set yourself when recruiting affiliates, typically 8–25% of the item price. Confusing the two is the most common pricing mistake new sellers make.

TikTok Shop is a creator-driven channel, and on affiliate-driven orders your commission rate routinely exceeds every other fee combined — a 15% affiliate commission is two and a half times the US referral fee. The discipline: treat commission as a pricing input, not a marketing afterthought. If a product only works at 0% commission, it doesn't work on TikTok Shop.

5. Refunds: the fee that hides in averages

When an order is refunded, TikTok returns your referral fee minus a refund administration fee of 20% of the original referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU (cap in effect since May 2025). FBT returns add roughly $3 per unit in return handling. Individually small; at a 15% fashion-category return rate they compound into a real margin line. Model returns as an expected cost per order — the calculator above does this automatically from your return-rate slider.

6. Getting paid

Bank-transfer withdrawals cost $0.05 each. There is no monthly subscription, no listing fee and no setup fee in any Western market. Optional costs that sit outside TikTok's fee schedule but inside your real margin: ad spend (often 15–25% of revenue for scaled shops), product samples sent to creators, and seller-funded discounts.

Worked example: a $35 skincare product, US, FBT, 12% affiliate

Item price$35.00
Referral fee (6%)−$2.10
Affiliate commission (12%)−$4.20
FBT fulfillment (single unit)−$3.58
Expected return cost (8% rate)−$0.27
Product cost−$10.00
Net profit per order$14.85
Margin42.4%

A healthy number — but change one assumption (20% commission, 15% returns, $5 of ad spend) and the margin halves. That's why per-order math beats headline percentages.
